Treatment guide

Teeth whitening

We offer teeth whitening as an in-clinic treatment, completed within a single appointment, or as custom-made trays for you to use at home over a period your dentist will specify. Your dentist will confirm the fee for either option before treatment proceeds, and will check first that your teeth and gums are healthy enough for whitening. If you have fillings, crowns or veneers at the front of your mouth, your dentist considers these as part of the assessment, since they will not lighten alongside your natural teeth and may need to be discussed separately.

Why patients consider it

Concerns this treatment is designed to address.

• A method that fits your routine
Your dentist completes in-clinic whitening in a single visit, or provides take-home trays that let you whiten at your own pace over several weeks, whichever fits your routine.
  • A fee confirmed before you begin
Your dentist sets out the cost of your whitening before treatment starts, so you know what is involved before agreeing to anything.
  • An honest account of what to expect
Your dentist explains how staining type and your natural tooth colour affect the result, and flags any fillings, crowns or veneers that will need separate consideration.
Is it suitable for you? Whitening suits people who want a brighter smile and are comfortable planning around either a single clinic visit or a longer at-home course. A consultation will confirm the fee and the method best suited to your teeth.

What to expect

Every stage, explained clearly.

A consultation and check

Your dentist examines your teeth and gums, reviews any existing fillings, crowns or veneers, and confirms whether whitening is appropriate before quoting the fee.

Treatment, in the clinic or at home

Depending on which option you choose, your dentist completes your whitening in one clinic visit, or you carry it out over a period at home using trays made for your teeth.

A follow-up conversation

Your dentist reviews the result with you, and discusses your existing dental work again if there is now a visible colour difference to plan around.

Before your appointment

Useful things to know.

How long does whitening take?

Your dentist usually completes in-clinic whitening within a single appointment. Take-home tray whitening runs over a period your dentist will specify, based on your teeth and the result you are working towards.

How much does whitening cost?

Your dentist confirms the fee before treatment begins, based on the method chosen, so you can decide with the cost already known.

Can I choose between in-clinic and take-home whitening?

Yes, in many cases. Your dentist will discuss which option suits your teeth, your schedule and your budget at your consultation.

What happens to my fillings, crowns or veneers?

They will not lighten in colour along with your natural teeth. Your dentist accounts for this when planning treatment, and can discuss options for keeping your smile looking even.
